2010 Mission Trip Dates

We have several short-term mission’s trip opportunities on the horizon for 2010. All of our outreaches are designed to use a popular activity as a platform to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to join non-believers together with the local church. Please pray to see how God would have you be a part of these activities and help us by sharing this info with your friends.

Fall 2010 Medical Outreach Missions Trip-We will need medical personnel including doctors, dentists, nurses and anyone who has a passion to come and serve God through this outreach. Medical clinics attract a lot of attention here. We will use this as a platform to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to join non-believers together with the local church.
Over the next couple of months, we will promote this trip and gauge interest before choosing an actual date. We need your help; by sharing this information with your friends, you will be helping us make an eternal difference in Guatemala.

2010 Skate Missions Trip-The 2009 skate mission team helped us build our skate ramps and kick off our Extreme Sports Ministry. This set into motion our Skate Outreach which is where we are skating with the local kids a few times a week and holding a weekly skater Bible study. Six of our regular skaters just made decisions for Christ in December!

The 2010 team will build upon this solid foundation by helping us use skateboarding as a platform to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to strengthen our witness to the local skate culture. All the fine details are being hashed out, but the main event will be a regional best trick contest; hopefully at Central Park. If we have lighter, portable ramps by then we will do demos at different schools, but if we don’t then I think we learned our lesson with the last team :) So we will need skaters for demos and judging the contest and non-skaters who have a passion to come and serve God through this event.

October 2010 Sports Camp Outreach-For this mission trip, we will be joining forces with UW Sports Ministry to facilitate and teach a sports seminar to Guatemalan pastors and Christian leaders. This will teach and empower Guatemalan Christians to use soccer and basketball camps as a platform to reach more kids in their communities for Christ!

Cell Group – The Dream Becomes a Reality

Our cell group was started back in February 2009 based on a dream that the Lord had given me. It has been an awesome ride since! I have watched Him put all the right pieces into place that will allow future growth. The idea was to take Christian leaders who have made it through the steps of leadership in their church and prepare them for taking the Gospel message outside the four walls of the church. This is exactly what has taken place with the skate outreach. Even though the group is small in size, they have been the driving force behind the evangelistic activities in our Skate Outreach. My role with the cell group is to direct them in their decision making and focus on the spiritual needs of each member. Recently, we organized the group with officers and the goal is for it to grow into a legal association in Guatemala. The following pictures are from the cell group in 2009, I hope you enjoy them.

Six Skaters Make Decisions for Christ!

In an unexpected turn of events at yesterday’s Sunday skate session six skaters made decisions for Christ. We were in the middle of our normal Sunday routine of skating with a short Bible based message in between. Right before the message I was talking to an American pastor who stopped by to talk in person because we had been communicating by email for a few months. I told him about our upcoming Evangelistic Dinner for skaters on Sunday Dec. 27. I said, “I am really expecting about five or six to step up and give their lives to Christ during the dinner.” Then Fredy spoke and at the end of the message, he gave them an opportunity to make a decision and six of them came forward. He asked them to get in a circle and I led them in the sinner’s prayer and the whole group repeated. That just goes to show that God knows so much more than I do! Praise the Lord for His faithfulness! What an awesome day!

Video Update – Extreme Sports Ministry Skate Outreach

This is a video update where Missionary Steven Rice Jr informs the general public about upcoming events. This was supposed to be a serious clip, but with the outtakes at the end it gets hilarious. It’s a must see!

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. - Gal. 2:20
